We have supported Birmingham MIND’s wellbeing service by providing wellbeing sessions for adults with mental health difficulties.
Outdoor wellbeing sessions where provided for those suffering from low to medium mental health issues, such as anxiety, social isolation, low mood, mild to medium depression, stress and other low level mental health conditions where users felt they may become mentally unwell. It was designed to be a preventative service.
We learned bushcraft skills like knot tying and fire lighting. Crafted with natural materials like willow, hazel and wool. Practiced relaxation, mindfulness and meditation. We carried out practical conservation such as clearing weeds and site accessibility improvements laying wood chip paths.
Participants benefited from decreased social isolation and improved social skills. Increased confidence and feelings of wellbeing and connection with nature.
